Tamworth country music festival. (January). One week of country music that is mostly locked away behind doors of pubs and auditoriums, with free music in the parks and buskers in the street. Great atmosphere. I used to live there! Everyone knows about Tamworth country music.
Or how about the Jazz festival at Wangaratta (Vic) in October every year? One week again but this festival is small enough not many people have heard (if you ask them) about it but it gathers crowds to the town of around 20,000.

Summerfest in Milwaukee Wi. Its small in a way that they have like 7 different stages with seven different types of music like rock, r&b, blues, and world music during the day. Then they have the BIG main stage which is Marcus Amp. where they have the main acts at the end of each day at this week long festival. Some notible acts on the main stage this year were, Tom Petty, Pearl Jam, Nickelback, NIN, Counting Crows, Kenny Chesney, and so on.
