Thursday, February 11th, 2010Well, there’s no Glastonbury this year, and it is generally acclaimed as the best, so that opens the field (pardon the pun) up a bit.
It really depends what music you prefer, and whether tickets are available this late in the year. The Reading and Leeds weekend is good fun if you like the heavier side of rock and metal, but weekend tickets have already sold out for those, though there are some day tickets remaining.
My bet for a good one would be the Isle of Wight festival. It’s got a great history, good reputation and a great lineup, isn’t too busy (about 20,000 people), but again you’ll have to blag a ticket as they sold out ages ago.
And if you like dancier music the ones to check out would The Big Chill, which is in the most beautiful location in the Malvern Hills, and the Glade festival, which is at a ’secret location’ near Reading, and will be the closest vibe to Glastonbury you’ll get all summer
