Hey, whats goin on out there? My name is mark and I’ve been into the whole jam scene since 2003 now and have been having a blast!! I’ve been on the road going to some of the biggest music festivals this summer that the USA has to offer… Langerado, Rothbury, Summer Camp and All Good!! My Question is this.. My friend’s family has a ton of land and big open fields next to Big Creek Lake in Mobile,AL which easily could fit like 3 big stages and probably easily be able to have 15,000- 20,000 people camping for 4 days!! I would like to call it ‘Big Creek Fest’ and the family has agreed to let it go down if it is possible to make it happn soo i’m kinda curious how to get thing started??? Thanks, Mark

I have always liked the beat of reggae music ever since I was a kid… there’s something about it that makes me feel giddy and happy. I also really like dancehall reggae… I’ll have to admit that Sean Paul is a guilty pleasure of mine (I even got to meet him backstage once!). Anyway, I’d like to start listening to more reggae, especially the modern upbeat type of stuff, but I guess I don’t know where to begin. What reggae artists are popular these days? Where can I go to download the music? Are there any reggae festivals coming up in the DC area?

You need cash and connections. No one (well few) will come just to listen to your friend’s garage band. You need at least one attraction.
Try and get f. ex. local firms sponsor you for advertising space.
And one more major thing: make the event as unique as possible. Every village and city has its own little festivals, you have to stand out.

I started a music and arts festival on the top of a high rocky mountain cliff and this is the 9th year running. You need to be fit and self sufficient to make it to the event and anyone can perform. No tickets, word of mouth, no vendors, just great people and friends. Hard part is packing in the equipment up a very steep mountain and maintaining the solar electric power for the show.
