Where Is The Best/closest Place To Stay For The Austin City Limits Music Festival?

Any hotel downtown because the shuttles to the ACL fest are located downtown. You don’t want to park anywhere near the festival because simply you can’t really find any parking. Shuttles are your best bet. That’s what I did and it was very simple and fast.

Should Ice Cream Truck Music Be Banned Within City Limits?

A local vendor is soon to face city council as he was cited for violating the city noise ordinance. He tried using a bicycle bell for a while, but it doesn’t have the same effect. Bar music, outdoor music festivals, jackhammers, factory whistles, train whistles, and emergency sirens are all louder than the ice cream truck. The neighborhood kids love the ice cream truck music and get all excited when they hear it. We had an ice cream truck in our neighborhood when I was a child and so did my parents. It just seems like taking a law out of context. Loud music should be banned for personal vehicles, residences and private property, not businesses in my opinion.

Yes, I have taken my kids. It does make for a long, hot day, but there are areas set up specifically for kids/families (a beach, kid’s tent, water area, etc.) which makes things a little easier. I would be sure to bring/sneak in your own snacks and drinks because most of the food and drink vendors don’t offer many kid-friendly options.

I just a few minutes ago received an email from ACL about the festival. The lineup will be revealed on Ground Hogs Day! So, it looks like you have to wait til Saturday. Sorry.

Does Anyone Know When The 2008 Austin City Limits Music Festival Lineup Will Be Announced?

The lineup has not been set or released yet and probably won’t be for another month or two.
The knock on ACL is that they continue to bring back the same artists every festival, and these same artists already come to Austin for separate shows at different venues throughout the year. Don’t get me wrong – I like ACL and have enjoyed going; however, I just hate to see it getting so routine and predictable.
While the new lineup has not been officially set, I can assure you that Wilco, Bloc Party, 1 of Bob Marley’s sons or grandsons, Lucinda Williams, Spoon, Blue October, Ben Kweller, Kaiser Chiefs, 1 old country guy, 1 old blues guy, and only 1 (if any) hip hop group will be there.

I want to organize an annual music festival outside the city limits of my home town. Any tips/suggestions for getting started? The idea is to feature local artists, give them a place to network, & promote local music & merchandise. We’re working off a very minimal budget. Any help will be appreciated.
