The story goes the producer Norman Granz had arranged this unusual two-bass setup without any of the two star jazz-bassists previously knowing they will appear together on stage. Fabulous result that contributeted to Oscar Petersons fame .

@Parker1768 Si, verissimo. Brown è stato il migliore, o tra i migliori, per un decennio. Quando arrivò Pedersen però la tecnica e la classe era un’altra. Fraseggio stretto, ritmicissimo, velocissimo, Lirico… insomma un contrabbasso suonato come una chitarra jazz. Pedersen l’ho visto dal vivo almeno 5 volte a Bergamo e a Milano. Ho visto anche Ray Brown, che adoro anch’io… ma è altro. Nel jazz se gli allievi non superassero i maestri sarebbe tutto una noia, sarebbe musica classica.
@GrilloNoGRAZIE Attenzione potrei essere di parte, parlando di Pedersen, un artista prematuramente scomparso a 58 anni che amo tantissimo e poi sentirlo con Joe Pass e Peterson è il massimo. Ma nell’intervista Pedersen considera Brown come un suo idolo e monumento del jazz in effetti qui il più anziano è Ray Brown che mette a disposizione la sua straordinaria esperienza accumulata con gli anni. Ps. alla fine l’ultimo ad andarsene è stato O.Peterson, che nostalgia .
@Parker1768 Grande Norman! In realtà voleva mettere a confronto Brown con Pedersen. Chiaramente Oscar non ci sta e vuole essere lui il protagonista e suona come un dio. Pedersen è e rimane il contrabbassista più virtuoso e con la miglior ritmica mai visto nel jazz.
