That sounds so good!! Yeah make sure you have insurance. I’ve done some event stuff in the past but I’m no expert, the following would be a good place to start- think about: venue and capacity, promotion (have you got any connections- Radio 1 love this kind of thing see if they’ll support you), performers- have they got websites that you can utilise? try myspace.com too- they have a music section that would be a brilliant place to promote the event from, find out if your local council will support it in any way- by sponsoring for example, other sponsors- magazines, websites, clothing companies, local radio, think about press too- is this a unique event for your local area? will the press be happy to publicise? maybe even national press will be intersted? also think about staging, sound engineers, event staff (can you get students to volunteer to help with any of this)- but get a professional sound guy (or gal) ticket sales? outlets? local record shops for example. Can you get the email addresses of the producers/record labels you want to target? Just had a thought- check out the Sundance film festival and how they got started (apparently it flopped the first year and now it’s like THE independent film festival in the world) see if you can get any pointers from how they did it. Can’t think of anything else but good luck!
first find a place, then get your insurance. are you going to pay these bands? how are you going to get the funding for snacks and drinks? how many bands were you going to invite? what6 about ticket prices for other people to see the bands?
I have put on severaL shows before involving my boyfriends band, with and without well known artists. do realize how finicky musicians are? by the way how are you going to gurantee that producers and directors are going to be on the internet when you broadcast it? not a bad idea, but there is alot of planning you need to do. if you have any questions feel free to email, like i said, i have done this a few times.
