The key is to show him you are mature. So no grovelling, whining, rolling your eyes etc.
Perhaps make him a deal – if he will allow you to go you will do all the chores or something for a week.
If he says no, then you have to still be gracious (I know – very hard). If you want him to start viewing you as an adult, you have to start behaving like one (BTW it sounds like you are very mature to begin with so good luck hon!)
Don’t beg… be super mature about it. Tell him a bunch of details about the concert and how much you LOVE the bands… tell him about the bands. He’s just concerned that you’re interested in other things besides the music so if you convince him that it’s all about the music he may be more inclined to let you go. I grew up with extremely strict parents which is why I turned into a naughty girl. Looking back I think I could have gotten away with a little more if I had talked to them about things and informed them – kinda the way I’d talk to a friend – instead of begging to go everywhere.
There are many unknowns here. How old are you? What kind of music festival? Who are you going with? In the end, unless you are over 18, your dad gets the final vote. Be grateful that you have a “strict” dad who cares. Sit down and talk with him, listen to his concerns, address them if you can, but in the end, if the answer is no, accept it without whining and thank your dad for caring about you. Having a dad who loves you is far more important than going to any music festival.

Tell him that you need to go so you can impress this girl that you like…he will be able to relate to that.
