Mick and The Weddos are not Elton John – they NEED the money (this is what they do for a living), so spend some of yours and buy the DVD tightfist. Presumably you don’t work for nothing!
Awesome song. If anyone has seen the west coast of Tasmania they will have a true appreciation for what the convicts would have gone through to trek from Strahan to Hobart. No picnic.
very interesting story about this song. i fell asleep listening to ABC FM on my MP3 player, and i woke at about half past three with my head phones in my ears, and this song was playing. id never heard it before, but it has such a catchy and addictive style to it, so i recorded it off the radio and searched the lyrics on google and ended up here. fantastic song, even better now cos i know what its about. love it heaps
great song about a top story old alexander pearce was a tough old flesh eating convict driven by the cruel eniquities foisted on him by his cruel pommy captors on sarah island!
wen i first heard this song is when teacher sang it i found it very exiting so i wanted to youtube it and this version is great and even scarier i love it and am in primary
This song is as confronting as it was when I first heard it nearly 20 years ago. Another example of Micks undisputable songwriting genius that comes from the heart
Saw them play in Western Australia about 10 years ago or more followed by James Reyne on new years at the canningvale markets.Great night..great memories..thanx 4 the up
anyone got a ticket for the sunday night corner hotel later show on the 20th, that they want to swap for the earlier afternoon matinee all ages show so they can take their kids??
Just seen them twice in two days at port fairy folk festival. Man they rocked. I agree they are australias best live band ever. Bono once rated miick as the world’s greatest singer songwriter ever. I agree!!!!

I was there in 1990 when they first sang this in Hobart Town itself. The Tasmanians went off.
